At Blue Water Fine Art Gallery, we are dedicated to showcasing exceptional artwork from both emerging and established artists. Our mission is to create a vibrant space that fosters appreciation for the arts and supports the creative community that captures the beauty and spirit of the Oregon Coast.
I love capturing the moment. I push myself to find unique or extreme environments to capture something special. Like all art, Photography is a never-ending learning process. To produce art you must put yourself out there for the world to see. It can be frustrating, but I relish the joy of the final product. I hope you enjoy the results of my learning.
My connection to clay began in childhood, with a formative class at King’s Lake Camp in the 1980s. Years later, while working in the insurance industry, I spent evenings immersed in ceramics at the University of Alaska Anchorage Community College—where I deepened my understanding of glaze chemistry, clay bodies, kiln firing, and the foundational rhythms of the craft.
After a long career in corporate life, I’ve returned to my creative roots—dividing my time between Washougal, WA and Rockaway Beach, OR, and embracing pottery alongside another lifelong passion: master’s swimming.
I work primarily with stoneware clay and mid-range commercial glazes. My aesthetic leans into bold patterns and bright, joyful colors—visual expressions of the energy and vibrancy I find in everyday life. Each piece is created to bring warmth and playfulness into the spaces we live in—whether that’s your kitchen table, garden path, or favorite windowsill.
Oregon-born Victoria Brooks' path from young art student to accomplished plein air painter and mentor is an inspiration to those who appreciate fine art and those who aspire to create work that speaks to the heart. Known for capturing the fleeting beauty of natural light and landscape, Victoria’s paintings reflect both emotional depth and technical mastery. Her journey continues to uplift fellow artists and admirers alike, making her a cherished figure in the world of outdoor painting.
A Rockaway Beach local, Latisha Fernandez uses acrylic on canvas to explore the intimate connection between nature and the human experience. Her work invites viewers to discover the healing power of the natural world. From childhood, writing and drawing were her outlets during life’s overwhelming moments. In 2018, aphasia changed her ability to express herself—but with support from friends and her therapist, painting emerged as a new voice. What began as personal exploration has grown into a practice that illuminates the emotional and natural worlds in harmony. Though new to exhibiting and selling her work, Latisha approaches each canvas with curiosity and intention, offering a quiet meditation and an invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect.
As a mixed media artist deeply rooted in the shifting rhythms of the Oregon Coast, I combine texture, color, and narrative to evoke a sense of place and memory. Using resin as a key medium, I capture light, depth, and movement—inviting viewers into layered landscapes that reflect nature’s fluid beauty and the stories we carry.
Dan specializes in intarsia, a wood mosaic art form where individual pieces are shaped, fitted, and glued into a base to create richly detailed designs. Rooted in 15th-century Italian tradition, intarsia showcases craftsmanship and precision. Dan enhances each piece using laser etching, cutting, and engraving, and has recently focused on refining shaping and finishing techniques for added intricacy. A pivotal moment came two and a half years ago, when he studied under Judy Gale Roberts—an inductee of the Wood Workers Hall of Fame—at her studio in Tennessee. His vision is to use the natural features and colors of wood and shape it to create more interesting and accurate art.
Kevin has studied under some of the leading artists in intarsia, including a class with Judy Gale Roberts at JGR Studios in Tennessee. While there, he also worked closely with her assistant, Marianne, refining his cutting techniques. Kevin’s work blends traditional intarsia with modern technologies like laser cutting, engraving, scribing, and 3D printing—bringing precision and innovation to every piece.
Lydia Hess looks to the natural world and iconic symbols for inspiration in her artwork. She has worked with carved clay-board, and block prints for many years as a commercial illustrator. After being introduced to the unexpected spontaneity of monotype printmaking, she was inspired to infuse these colorful, textural compositions with her graphic carved images. Lydia combines these graphic images with her monotypes in traditional and digital collage to create both abstract and representational works on paper.
Based in Nehalem, Oregon, Nicki Hummel is a passionate artist and educator. As an art teacher at Neahkahnie Middle School, she inspires creativity in the classroom while continuing her own artistic practice beyond it. Known for her hyper-realistic oil paintings, Nicki captures the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest Coast with striking detail and emotional depth. Her work reflects a deep reverence for the natural landscape and a commitment to sharing its power through both teaching and painting.
Based in Garibaldi, Oregon, Stacey Mairs creates handcrafted jewelry using sterling silver, beach stones, and gemstones. Each piece is meticulously hand-fabricated in her home studio, featuring hammered textures and hand-stamped patterns that highlight the artistry of the process. Inspired by natural landscapes, organic textures, and ancient designs, Stacey’s work reflects a deep appreciation for detail, tradition, and the beauty found in everyday materials.
Born near Boston into a family of textile artisans, Diane Veronica Smith was immersed in creativity from an early age. Her love of art gradually evolved into a passion for glass, even as she pursued a long and compassionate career in nursing. For over twenty years, Diane nurtured her artistry alongside her vocation, ultimately focusing on lampwork glass—a medium that allowed her to transform molten color into intricate, expressive jewelry. Her intuitive ability to visualize designs in three dimensions gave her work a distinctive depth and elegance.
Diane’s pieces were exhibited in Massachusetts and Georgia before she relocated to Seal Rock, Oregon, where the coastal landscape inspired the oceanic themes and hues seen in her later work. Though she left this world too soon, her art continues to reflect her warmth, vision, and enduring love for life by the sea.
Mastering the deceptively complex nature of watercolor has forever challenged me in ways that no other media could; the inherently unique quality that is the infinite variety of water, paper, pigment and brush; exploring the difference between ‘painting a watercolor’ and ‘painting WITH watercolor’; seeking a place that is simultaneously BOTH and NEITHER.
Shannon Whipple-Anderson is a fused glass artist living in Garibaldi, OR. She's always loved glasswork of all kinds, which is what inspired her to do her own after she retired. Drawing inspiration from the world around her with an emphasis on shapes, textures, and brilliant colors, her goal is to create pieces that are both simple and elegant.
